I didn't get so much as an apology after I was told I couldn't work for them any more. ![]() When I asked my manager for a letter of recommendation so I could get another job, he said he simply didn't know if he could do that. I was let go because STUSCO changed their requirements on the amount of experience you had to have to haul oil for them. If they had a union I would still have a job today. To top it all off, Martin's driver manual states, that their drivers do not need a union because their job is secure and basically Martin takes care of their employees. I eventually lost count and gave up ever getting what was owed to me. Paychecks were never right, and when I tried to call to get them fixed the manager was always out that day. I turned in receipts for various things I needed on the job and never was reimbursed after countless attempts. Sure you're assigned a truck but they don't tell you it'll be in the shop the next day, and you are the last on the totem pole to get a newer truck. ![]() I turned it in to be fixed and the next loaner leaked oil terribly, but was forced to drive it because all they had were day cabs after it if I wanted to make any money. The loaner I was in at the time was full of cockroaches in the beds and the A/C didn't work. My first assigned truck I put in the shop was taken to another terminal and I never did get it back after I wrote it up to get fixed. But to sum it all up, it seems more like a part time job. But people with titles tend to do that and especially if the job is the only place that they can use their authority because they can’t do it at home. I demand respect just like I give respect. ![]() Also, you have to let these managers know where you stand as a grown person and an employee because my terminal manager thought he/she could talk to me any kind of way. Why should I have to beg to work if I’m an employee there? But when you say something about how you feel, then it turns into a heated discussion. And you don’t get holiday pay unless you run if you’re a driver. I found myself always calling and asking about working. It’s hard to at least make a consistent 1200-1500 a week before benefits and deductions and anything else whether personal or not that you have to have deducted from your check like child support, bankruptcy or whatever it may be. But the terminal I work out of doesn’t operate like that. I thought you work to get/stay out of debt. If you’re not one of the terminal managers favorites, then just forget about really working for a decent check. ![]()
